More than four in ten employees in the UK claim they are often at their wits end with ‘constant grief’ from work.

According to a new study, 44 per cent of British employees routinely wake up in the middle of the night to check emails and frequently send emails to colleagues and clients between the hours of 11 o’clock at night and six o’clock in the morning.

Nearly two thirds of workers admit they lose sleep over work worries and one in ten say they would fear for their job if they didn’t respond to emails promptly. And even at the weekend, the average Brit spends three hours on average catching up on emails and dealing with issues they haven’t had time to deal with during the working week, says the research.

It also reports that 45 per cent of workers in the study complained that their boss often called them during non-working hours and 28 per cent have been disturbed on a family holiday.
